Happy New Year to all! It's been a while since I last posted, and so much has happened in that time. We have been in the construction phase since late October. We are finally getting to see all of our planning come to fruition. We now have an actual house that we can walk around in! Here's what's been happening at the build site over the last few months. October 29th...And so it begins We had the land cleared already and the pad was started in late October.
Early November...Slab time There are only so many pictures of a concrete slab you can take. The house looks way tiny with now walls. I had to double check with our contractor to make sure he knew what he was doing, lol.
Later in November...Framing started Now that the walls are going up, it still looks too small. Can we actually fit in here?
Thanksgiving Week...Still framing We have all of the downstairs framed and it is looking great. We are starting to see how it's all going to come together!
Early December...Boy it takes a long time to frame a house!
Late December...All framed up!
Early January...We have a house! All of the framing is finished and we are completely "dried in!" The Hardi board is up all around the house and getting prepped for painting later. I'm so excited to walk through our house and see all of the rooms so I can start planning (overthinking) what they will look like in the end. The stairs are a major focal point to me. They are the first thing you will see as you come in the front door and they look great! The plumbers have already roughed in the plumbing and the electricians will start their work this week. Stay tuned for more updates!
Have you built before? We feel like we are pretty well used to all of this the second time around, but there are still times we are second guessing ourselves for sure. I tried to think of everything, but there are already things I know aren't going to be perfect. You really have to be flexible. I'd love to hear from you!
